|The North Staffs Heart Committee was founded in 1979
with the aim of improving and advancing Cardiac Care in the region
by providing superior Hospital and First Aid Equipment.
Since then this independent local charity has raised over £6 million which was used to support Local Hospital Cardiac Departments and Primary Care Providers such as St John Ambulance, First Responder groups, and others.
Over a hundred Automatic Defibrillators have been provided for community use.
Many items of hi-tech equipment for diagnostics and treatment have been purchased, some costing over £100,000 and some the first of the kind to be used in this country.
With the help of our supporters, we have therefore played our part in assisting the Royal Stoke University Hospital and its staff to attain its status as a
Centre of Excellence for Cardiac Care and it is recognised to be in the top five of the sixty other specialist units in the country for cardiac surgery.
To enable the charity to continue into the future, due to their advancing years,
the trustees took the decision to transfer the charity to a dedicated fund within the charity of the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM).
The fund continues to be known as the
North Staffs Heart Committee
and its Logo and Aims and Objectives
will continue as before.
The Charity is now administered by
